Forsberg Not Returning, and Tragedy Strikes in OHL

First off, Peter Forsberg’s agent, Don Baizley told TSN that Foppa, the most sought after free-agent all year, has announced that he will not be returning to the NHL this season. According to this TSN article, Foppa doesn’t have enough confidence in his ankle to commit to an NHL contract. He did, however, leave the idea of returning next season open.

Seriously though, why doesn’t Foppa just call it a career, and do what Pat Fallon did. Go play in some Senior’s league somewhere. Everyone knows that Peter Forsberg is one of the the all-time greats when it comes to play-offs, averaging 1.15 PPG in the post-season. Forsberg has also won the Calder, the Art Ross, and the Hart during his time in the big leagues. He was also a 5 time All-Star. There is no doubt that he is a great player, but will forever be hampered by his ankle made of glass.

Secondly, as mentioned in the title, tragedy struck the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL, when their captain, Mickey Renaud collapsed in his home. He was transported to hospital where he was pronouced dead at the emergency room.

Renaud was only 19 and was a 5th round pick of the Calgary Flames last year. This is a prime example that terrible things can happen to anyone, even if they are in exceptional shape and condition.

My condolences go out the Renaud’s family, and to the entire Spitefire organizition.
